Why Now?

It's Arts Advocacy Day!

The 30th annual Arts Advocacy Day is March 20, 2017 and is designed to showcase the powerful effects that art has on local communities and to help communities embrace the importance of strong public policies supporting the arts.

(And it's perfectly timed, given the Trump Administration's recent national budget proposal that zeros out federal arts funding.)

Akron-based ArtsNow is leading the charge for local arts advocacy in Summit County.

“Arts Advocacy Day is an opportunity to join forces with arts organizations nationwide and show our support for all that the arts bring to Summit County,” said Nicole Mullet, Executive Director of ArtsNow. “A vibrant creative scene gives community life. It inspires us, enables innovation, and fosters understanding and civic growth.”

This year the campaign will focus on the strong connections between arts and communities. So Akron is the perfect fit.
